PRECINCT CONVENTION(S):
The Precinct Convention(s) date has been set by the
Matagorda County Republican Party CEC for March 28, 2026, time 10:00-11:30am. If your
Precinct Chairman does not show up to run the Precinct Convention meeting, then you are
entitled to claim the precinct packet and the instructions for running the precinct convention
agenda/script will be in your packet. The venue has been determined, but we will gather by
Precincts. At your Precinct Convention you can sign up to be a delegate to your County/Senate
District (SD) Convention; to be held March 28, 2026 (this date is set State-wide by the Rules of
the Republican Party of Texas to be held on the 4th Saturday of March, with time & local venue
to be determined by each County Parties Chairman &/or CEC Convention Chair(s)). If you
cannot attend your precinct convention, contact your local Republican Party or precinct chair to
sign you up to attend your County/SD Convention. If there is only one space available for
Delegate status to County Convention, sign up as Alternate or you may sign up as an At-Large
Delegate through the Convention Chair set up process. Approximately two weeks PRIOR to the
County/SD Convention. Precinct Conventions are REQUIRED to be held by County/SD in the
same location for the entire County/SD, per Texas Election Code. See Precinct Convention
Locations below.
THE COUNTY/SD CONVENTION:
Generally, will be held the 4th Saturday of March at a venue
determined by the County/SD Parties Chairman &/or CEC Convention Chair(s). The statewide
date for County/SD Conventions per RPT Rule 27A must be held ON March 28, 2026. You
should attend this Convention in person to ensure you are elected to be a delegate/alternate to
the State Convention. However, one can become a delegate/alternate by having a Convention
attendee nominate you to be elected as a delegate/alternate then approved by the full
convention body. County/SD Conventions will be held at the following location(s) VFW Post
2438, 1672 TX-60, Bay City, TX. If you are SURE you can attend the Texas State Republican
Convention in Houston, please sign up to be a Delegate. If you are not sure, PLEASE sign up to
be an ALTERNATE DELEGATE, as 95-100% of ALTERNATES are elevated to full DELEGATE
status at Convention once you arrive due to unexpected circumstances, some people cannot
attend at the last minute.
Temporary Chair(s) for the upcoming County/SD convention were appointed by the County
Chair in January. Matagorda County is organized by 1 Senate District: SD17. Precinct
