2026 Republican Party of Texas State Convention
Where else can you wade into a throng of 9,000 die-hard Republican voters? Only at the
Republican Party of Texas Biennial Convention, which is the largest in the whole USA. This is
where our Legislative Priorities are formed for the following legislative session and our Platform
is updated. If you have never attended, what are you waiting for? As it is a 3-step process,
many people are put off by the process by which you get there. But with a little bit of planning,
you can get your PTO arranged, transportation to Houston and back and find a
roommate/buddy to share the hotel expenses. Texas has been RED for all these years because
9,000 of you step up every two years to be a part of this! It is an honor and a privilege to be a
Texas State Convention Delegate and/or Alternate Delegate and represent your Senate District
and active Republicans who want to go are likely to be elected as a delegate to attend.
THE REPUBLICAN PARTY OF TEXAS (RPT) STATE CONVENTION:
At the SREC meeting held back on Dec 6, 2025 in Austin, it was announced that Governor Abbott has pledged a
straight reduction to registration fees to any delegate under 25 to $25 & to $50 for those over
65, and charter buses to the convention will be available at $10 to $20 cost to take you from
undetermined as of yet locations to and from the George R Brown Convention Center in
Houston on June 10 – 13. This also will save on your parking fees. Start now to plan to be there
June 10 – 13. Registration opens June 8. You cannot put Convention Delegate on your resume
until you actually ATTEND the Convention. At State Convention we elect our State Republican
Executive Committeeman and Committeewoman Members (SREC) and vote on Resolutions,
Legislative Priorities, Platform…all the things that make our Republican Party run for the
following two-year period. We also elect our Party Chair, Vice-Chair, and the National
Committeeman and Committeewoman positions. Roll Call is taken to assure a Quorum in each
Senate District Caucus Meetings. Committee members (Rules, Resolution, Platform,
Legislative Priorities) begin committee meetings on Monday June 8. Which any Delegates can
attend/observe at their own additional expense. Convention attendees begin arriving on
Wednesday afternoon, June 10, 2026 and are expected to be there all day Thursday, Friday
and Saturday (June 11, 12 & 13) for Convention Caucus Meetings/General Sessions to VOTE
on Party business and the RPT Convention Committee has to plan for full attendance. Room
blocks are set up for convention delegates and rates are pre-set by the Host Hotels by the RPT
at around $200/night + hotel fees. Convention Delegates and Grassroots members receive
advance notice to book hotels. We encourage signing up for the chartered buses and sharing
Air B&Bs or hotel accommodations. Otherwise, transportation, hotels and meals are the
delegates’ responsibility.
Matagorda County SREC Members will hold a State Convention Delegate Training (Date &
Time TBD) at sometime in May ahead of the Convention so check back here for specific details!
